General Qualifications and Experience
Greg Boyer, PE is a principal with BG Engineering Group, and has over 37 years of experience in the design, planning, and management of over 150 transportation projects with ODOT and various Ohio counties. Greg is well versed in bridge and roadway design, bridge load rating, roadway geometrics, bridge hydraulics, safety design, and maintenance of traffic alternatives. He holds ODOT prequalifications in Complex Roadway Design, Level 2 Bridge Design, Level 1 Bridge Inspection, and Safety Study (pending). During his career, he has provided review services for ODOT on more than 500 bridges and performed hands on bridge inspection for over 100 bridges. His extensive project management and bridge design experience includes prestressed concrete box and I-beams, straight, kinked, and curved steel rolled beams, constant and variable depth steel girders, single and multiple-span concrete slabs, precast concrete box, and flat-top and arch-top three-sided culverts.

Greg has been the project manager for Six General Engineering Services contracts with ODOT including most recently the Statewide Load Rating Contract with the Office of Structural Engineering. He has taken the ODOT PDP, all of ODOT’s LRFD, Bridge Load Rating Training Classes, and the Bridge Inspection Refresher Course. He has also taken ODOT’s training classes on Highway Capacity Manual, Safety Studies, Categorical Exclusion (CE), Interchange Justification Studies, Maintenance of Traffic (MOT), Waterway Permits, Purpose & Need, Ecological Training, and Signings and Pavement Markings. He is well versed in MicroStation, Geopak, OpenRoads Designer, HEC-RAS, HY8, Merlin Dash, and AASHTOWare BrR. Greg has managed numerous projects during his career and has been the lead designer for over 100 structures.
